Our Physician

Kari Sproul, MD, FACOG

Dr. Sproul is a board certified obstetrician and gynecologist and board eligible reproductive endocrinologist who has special expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of infertility and assisted reproductive technology. Her areas of clinical interest include stress and fertility, fertility preservation and polycystic ovary syndrome (P.C.O.S.).

Dr. Sproul completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency training and her reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellowship training at the University of California, Los Angeles (U.C.L.A.) where she performed research on sexual function in pregnancy, ovulation induction, thyroid function in the infertile patient, PCOS genetics, and the early development of the ovarian follicle. Dr. Sproul has worked with numerous medical students and residents and has received multiple resident teaching awards.

In addition, she received the Star award for patient care while at UCLA, and most recently, a research award for research she presented at the Pacific Coast Reproductive Society meeting. Dr. Sproul is a contributing author in medical text books, has presented her research at numerous national and international meetings, has published her research in several peer-reviewed journals and is a reviewer for the journal Fertility and Sterility. Dr. Sproul also has been featured on ABC’s Eyewitness Newsmakers to discuss her experience working and operating in Africa and has been interviewed for magazines such as Glamour to provide a specialist’s point of view about fertility treatments. Dr. Sproul's positive energy has been noted by her patients and colleagues throughout her career, and she looks forward to helping her patients in all aspects of their fertility care, while at Santa Monica Fertility Specialists.

When she's not working, Dr. Sproul loves to spend time with her husband, travel, and run on the beach.

Education

  • Dr. Sproul completed her BS in Neuroscience with honors from the University of Pittsburgh, and her MD from Temple University School of Medicine
  • She completed her specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynecology and subspecialty training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of California, Los Angeles
